ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1951, Tianjin Medical University became the first medical university after the foundation of P. R. of China. TMU is recognized by WHO and one of the 74 universities to acquire the authorization by the Ministry of Education to admit students from abroad.
TMU is also one of the 97 universities which are emphatically constructed by the National "211 Project". TMU has been admitting foreign students since 1960s. Presently, the University has more than 1430 foreign students from about 64 countries. The International School (IMS) of TMU is in charge of the education, management, and recruitment of the international students. The University consists of qualified teachers and it provides favorable teaching facilities. Since 20 years, the University is provides courses in the English Medium.
TMU covers the total land area of 400,000 square meters. There are nearly 7493 faculty members, including 5,946 professors and 1,092 associate professors. There are about 8515 student studying in TMU. Out of these, there are 5127 undergraduates, 1593 postgraduates, 1260 international students, 347 doctorates, and 494 training students. At present, it offers 44 authorized doctoral programs, 3 mobile post-doctoral stations, 61 authorized master programs with 158 doctoral supervisors, and over 500 master supervisors.

STUDENT LIFE
There are over 20,000 students studying medicine in the university. Till now, over 750 students from over 40 countries have taken admission in TMU. These students have enrolled in various medical programs. Some of the students take admission specially to learn Chinese language program making TMU a real multicultural community for students.
