On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of India addresses the plea seeking a fresh NEET-UG exam 2024 on the grounds of a “paper leak” and other “malpractices”. “The sanctity of the exam has been affected,” said the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court further said there is no stay on the counseling.
There are currently multiple petitions challenging the NEET UG exam’s result due to allegations of irregularities, multiple candidates securing the same top rank, raising questions about grace mark allocation, and potential paper leaks. On June 4, 2024, the court issued a notice to the National Testing Agency demanding a response to these claims. The bench hearing the case emphasized the need for clarity, stating that the “sanctity of the exam has been affected”.
The NTA has been directed to respond by July 8, 2024. This indicates that the Court’s final decision is still pending. Counseling for admissions, however, is allowed to continue.
