On October 29, 2024, Russia issued a visa-free entry for all Indian tourists who wish to travel to the country. By spring of 2025, Russia will be expecting the first visa-free tourist groups from India to arrive in Moscow.
This discussion to gear up for visa-free group tourist exchanges between the two nations began in June 2024. The esteemed Director of the Russian Economic Development Ministry’s Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects, Nikita Kondratyev’s determination to finalize the agreement by the end of this year has become fruitful.
This agreement to offer visa-free to Indian tourists was to boost tourism ties between the two countries. Evgeny Kozlov, chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, said that “It is predicted that thanks to the agreement, which is now under development, the number of travellers from India coming to the Russian capital will increase.” He also stated, “India entered the top five countries in terms of e-visas issued last year, with 9,500 electronic visas granted, making up 6% of the total electronic visas received by foreigners visiting Russia. Furthermore, in January this year, 1,700 e-visas were issued to Indian tourists.”
This agreement will allow Indian citizens who travel for business or work purposes to have a hassle-free travel experience.
