NTA Released Clarification Regarding NEET (UG) 2024 Queries

On June 06, 2024, the NTA released a public notice addressing the candidates, clarifying their queries about the NEET (UG) 2024 result that was declared on June 04, 2024. 

The NEET (UG) 2024 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 05 May 2024

from 02:00 to 05:20 P.M. (IST) at 4750 Centres in 571 cities (including 14 cities abroad) for more

than 24 lakhs candidates. 

Here are some of the points that NTA clarified for the candidates:

1. Cut-off of NEET (UG) 2024

The cut-off scores of the candidates for NEET (UG) 2024, determines on the performance of the candidates each year. This year, the increase in the cut-off reflects the tough competition of the exam and the higher marks achieved by the candidates. The Average Marks out of

720 of qualified candidates is 323.55, with an average score of 164. In comparison, the average marks in 2023 were 279.41, with an average score of 137, indicating a significant increase in the cut-off score.

2. Compensatory marks for loss of time

There are concerns raised by the candidates who faced disruption during the exam, which cause of loss of exam time during the conduct of NEET (UG) 2024 on 05.05.2024. The NTA reviewed the grievances and and compensated 1563 candidates for the loss of time based on their performances. The compensated score vary from -20 to 720. 

3. Toppers in NEET (UG) 2024

The increase in the number of candidates who appeared for NEET (UG) 2024 naturally led to heightened competition. This year, the NTA received 13,373 challenges to the Provisional Answer Key due to differences in NCERT textbook editions, resulting in 44 candidates scoring 720/720. Additionally, 6 candidates achieved a perfect score due to compensatory marks for lost time.

4. Declaration of Results while maintaining Transparency in the examination process 

As per practice, the NTA has set its procedure to maintain transparency in all its examinations, including NEET (UG). All necessary information is shared with the candidates through Advance City Intimation, Admit Card, Advisories for examination, display of scanned copies of OMRs and recorded responses to the candidates, inviting objections to Provisional Answer Keys, publishing Final Answer Keys on the Official website and sending scanned OMR Answer Sheets and Score Card through emails.

5. Unfair Means cases

The NTA has maintained strict measures in conducting the examination by adhering to rules and regulations, including canceling candidatures and debarment from future exams when necessary. Cases against impersonators have been registered, with support extended as required. Additionally, the NTA ensures the integrity of the examination, affirming that there have been no paper leaks during the examination process.
