The Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024 is a landmark event conducted by “Rossotrudnichestvo,” in collaboration with The Embassy of Russia in India, Russian House in New Delhi, and Rus Education. The event was graced by several eminent personalities, including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, HE Denis Alipov, Mr. Denis Gribov, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Mrs. Tatiana Semenova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, and others.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, H.E., Denis Alipov, inaugurated and graced the event with his excellent speech. In his speech, he highlighted that education has always been a vibrant area of bilateral cooperation. He further exclaimed that the Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024 is a landmark event, the first of its kind, meant for the expansion of the regular dialogue between the governments of the two countries in education and research institutions, and all interested stakeholders to identify and take forward technological, educational, business, and industry-applied projects of mutual interest.
He further shared, “There are three requisites for success, built from this tempo and the proud legacy we enjoy, and the current robust partnership of variable goodwill and mutual benefit. The scope is endless and many instances untapped or under-explored, starting from arctic research and nuclear sciences to chemistry and biotechnology, and endless educational programs for higher education in Russia.” This three-day program provides boundless guaranteed quality education and employment opportunities for Indian students in Russia. He also shared, “Currently, 22,000+ Indian students are studying in Russia in numerous disciplines. There is a positive development in the increase of study scholarships provided by the Russian government, and it is expected to grow from 200-500 specifically allocated for Indian students.”
The Summit has brought together policymakers, leaders, and academia on one platform. During the first panel discussion on “Russia-India-BRICS: the role of higher education in the development of comprehensive cooperation,” Dr. B Srinivas, Secretary of the National Medical Commission, delivered an invaluable speech. With the strong relations between India and Russia, he emphasized the importance of collaboration in higher education to foster comprehensive cooperation among Russia, India, and other BRICS nations. Dr. Srinivas highlighted the pivotal role of academia in driving innovation, cultural exchange, and sustainable development across borders.
Furthermore, to foster educational reciprocity in medical education between the two countries Ministers from the Russian Federation visited the National Medical Commission, reinforcing the commitment to strengthening educational ties.
As part of the 1st Indo-Russian educational summit, a representative delegation from Moscow, consisting of T. Semenova and the deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov, visited the Indian National Medical Commission (NMC). Air Marshal Dr Pawan Kapoor, Technical Advisor at Rus Education. The primary objective of this visit was to facilitate improvements in access to high-quality and affordable medical education in India. During the discussions, the delegation engaged in a video conference with NMC Chairman B.N. Gangadhar and offline meetings with Cabinet Secretary B. Srinivas.
“We are seeing growing interest from India in Russian medical education. Since 2016, the number of Indians studying with us has increased by 200 percent. We preserve the best principles of Russian education, rather than switching to Bologna standards.” stated Deputy Minister of Health of Russia, Tatyana Semenova, during the deliberations with NMC officials.
