Earlier this year, the National Test Agency (NTA) responsible for conducting various entrance exams all over the country had proposed the NEET UG Exam to be conducted on 1st August 2021. However, due to the sudden Covid situation as faced by the country and along with the postponement of the Class 12 board exam, there were several speculations and demands for the postponement of the exam.
The experts already predicted that the scheduled exam is likely to be postponed as the registration for the exams were still not initiated by the NTA. Therefore, earlier this month, on 6th June 2021, NTA supposedly submitted a status report to the the Education Ministry regarding the conduct of several exams like NEET UG 2021.
Yesterday, the newly-appointed Education Minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan announced the exam date of NEET-UG 2021 to be 12th September 2021 via his twitter handle.
The online registration will commence from 5 pm on Tuesday, 13th July 2021. The decision was taken following a meeting with the senior ministry and National Testing Agency (NTA) officials. However, the government deferred the registration process due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the month of April-May and subsequent lockdown.
“In order to ensure social distancing norms, the number of cities where examinations will be conducted has been increased from 155 to 198. The number of examination centres will also be increased from the 3862 centres used in 2020. To ensure adherence to Covid-19 protocols, face masks will be provided to all candidates at the centre. Staggered time slots during entry and exit, contactless registration, proper sanitisation, seating with social distancing etc. will also be ensured.” he further stated.
Over 16 lakh candidates are likely to take the pen-paper mode entrance test to be conducted by NTA.
The NEET-UG aspirants will get close to 20 days for registration and another three to four days as a correction window. Details will be updated as soon as NTA issues the notification.
