ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Founded on January 7, 1980, Spartan Health Sciences University is one of the best Schools of Medicine in West Indies. SHSU is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and recognized by WHO in Geneva, Switzerland. SHSU is situated in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, in the Caribbean. The first campus of SHSU was located in Castries, the capital city. However, in November 1983, the school was renamed Spartan Health Sciences University and relocated to Vieux Fort.
Spartan Health Sciences University is chartered and licensed in Saint Lucia. The university is listed in the FAIMER International Medical Education Directory (IMED) and in the Avicenna Directory for medicine. In 2013, Spartan was accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions.

Spartan is an accredited University with over 35 years of experience in medical education.
There are small class sizes which help in fostering a practical, interactive rich learning experience and clinical competency. The University supports and encourages community outreach programs led by student organizations. Here, students are provided with an adequate preparation for USMLE.
